Scientific Name: Bixa Orellana
Characteristics: Annatto is native to southern Peru and is highly demanded in the international market, as it is used in international cuisine as flavoring and in the chemical industry as colorant for beauty products.
Annatto is a seed covered by a substance called "bixin”, a red colorant extracted from the seed.
